Hanseatic Broking Center GmbH is consolidating its Hamburg brokerage operations at the Herrengraben 5 location, both organizationally and under corporate law. As part of this merger, ScanBrokers Versicherungsmakler GmbH, Total Consulting Versicherungsmakler GmbH, Barg & Büttner GmbH, ALBIS Assekuranzmakler GmbH, and VVDG Verlags- und Industrieversicherungsdienste GmbH will be absorbed into Robert Schüler Versicherungsmakler GmbH. The company will operate uniformly under the name Hanseatic Broking Center Versicherungsmakler GmbH going forward. The transaction was legally advised by a team from Luther Rechtsanwaltsgesellschaft mbH, led by M&A and private equity specialist Dr. Joachim Heinemann, which oversaw the merger and was responsible for its implementation under corporate law. With this merger, the group brings together established client relationships and many years of market experience under one roof. “We are bringing together the people and the specialized expertise of the various firms into a single organization,” says Gerd Schlossmacher, CEO of the HBC Group. “Our clients retain their trusted contacts while gaining access to significantly more resources and expertise.”

Focus on Interdisciplinary Consulting and Market Access

“Our goal is to leverage scale where it creates real added value: in specialized knowledge, technology, administration, and access to the insurance market. At the same time, we’re preserving what has made our companies successful: personal points of contact, short decision-making processes, and a close relationship with our customers,” says Niels Weinhold, future managing director of Hanseatic Broking Center Versicherungsmakler GmbH.

Going forward, our clients will have access to specialists from a variety of disciplines and industries. We address complex risks with larger teams of experts, and we can draw on additional expertise - from risk analysis and contract drafting to claims management.

In addition, the larger portfolio strengthens our negotiating position with insurers, which is an advantage when it comes to tailoring coverage plans and terms.

For employees as well, larger teams create new opportunities for specialization and professional exchange. Administrative tasks such as IT and compliance are consolidated centrally. This leaves more time for actual consulting in customer service.

Adapting to Changing Market Conditions

The merger is part of the HBC Group’s long-term development and a response to a market that is undergoing noticeable changes. The risks faced by clients are becoming more complex: cyberattacks, supply chain disruptions, natural hazards, and issues of managerial liability require specialized knowledge that a single brokerage firm can hardly maintain in its entirety anymore. At the same time, regulatory requirements for insurance brokers are increasing, ranging from advisory and documentation obligations to continuing education, data protection, and IT security. Added to this are competition for qualified professionals and the need to invest in digital processes. The new company combines the customer focus and short decision-making paths of a regional brokerage firm with the resources, specialization, and market clout of a group. It thus operates as a specialized broker for small and medium-sized enterprises, industry, commercial clients, and discerning private clients.
